Resolving Scheduling Conflicts
Ultimate Tennis league matches are scheduled by players and are not set by the league office. Just as sportsmanship is important and expected during a match, your sense of fair play when setting up a match is also expected. We realize there may be times when opponents' schedules are in conflict and we advise you to use the following method to resolve any difficulties:
- Utilize the make up week if a suitable time cannot be found during the primary week of play.
- Discuss the option of using your Late Pass to play and report the match beyond the scheduled due date.
If using the make up week or Late Pass is not an option then:
- Player who is was most available to play during the primary week may:
- Report a default and receive their current average.
- Schedule a match with a Substitute Player.
- The less available player may:
- Schedule a match with a Substitute Player.
- Be defaulted and receive a zero.
Note: To determine the player who is most available, both players must count the days they were not only available but actually offered to play. Only reasonable and customary Match Start Times during the primary week of play are counted towards availability.
Rescheduling Matches
Each player is allowed only one "reschedule" from the initial match date before the opposing player is awarded the "default option". To be eligible for rescheduling, matches must be cancelled at least three hours prior to the scheduled match start time. An opposing player is not obligated to reschedule any match cancelled with less than three hours notice. To insure players are notified in a timely manner of the need to reschedule a match, players are encouraged to utilize all listed numbers as opposed to only email.
Did you know?
- Matches may be played ahead of schedule. This is encouraged if you know in advance you will be unable to play certain weeks.
- Players need to be available to play during the week as well as on the weekends. Not just one or the other.
- You must complete a minimum of 4 matches against the assigned opponents on your schedule to be eligible for the playoffs. Matches against subs, averages, and defaults, do NOT count toward the 4 match minimum.
