Selecting your partner
Ultimate Tennis offers you the ability to play doubles and mixed doubles with partners of different abilities. To produce the most competitive matches possible, the individual skill levels of both partners are averaged to produce a "team playing level". The partner you select must be within the maximum acceptable skill range shown below to maintain quality balanced competition. Mixed doubles leagues are designed to be more social and allow for a wider range of partner combinations shown in green on the chart below.
Note: Adult league players must be 20 years of age. *However, parents may play with their children ages 18-19.
Calculating your team level
Your "team playing level" is the intersection of your level and your partner’s level shown on the chart below. During registration, our system will automatically calculate your team's playing level for you. Green levels are only allowed in mixed doubles.
Skill Levels - California, Texas, Southwest FL, Athens, Hilton Head
Skill Levels - Atlanta, Tampa Bay
USTA Requirements
If you are a new member you may not rate yourself at a level below your USTA rating. You must select a level at or above your USTA level in your first season. Players found playing below their USTA level are subject to being removed anytime during the regular season or the playoffs. When found, the Ultimate Tennis office will review the case and make a ruling.
Note: Your "team level" IS allowed to be below your USTA level - ONLY if your partner's playing level is low enough to produce a "team level" that is lower than your personal USTA level. For example a 3.0 and 4.0 USTA rated players ARE allowed play together at the 3.5 team level.
