Inclement Weather
Rain Prior to start of match
A match is never assumed to be canceled due to rain. Team captains must verbally contact each other to cancel a match. DO NOT cancel matches via email.
If a match must be canceled due to rain, teams should make every attempt to reschedule the match using the make up week if necessary. Teams may also utilize the Free Pass to aid in rescheduling the match.
Rain During Match Play
In the event of rain, matches will stand as played. Teams should wait at the courts for 20 minutes to determine if the courts will be playable again within the hour. If continuing play is not possible, teams may elect to:
- Reschedule the match for completion. Matches must be resumed by the original players at the exact set, game and point as they stood when play was halted. New balls must be provided by the home team when resuming a match in the 3rd set, or with more than 2 days between the start of the original match.
- Report an incomplete match and receive the points earned at the time play stopped. Neither team will receive the win however both teams will receive up to a maximum of 10 points based on the number of games won in their two best sets.
Extreme Temperatures
If the temperature is predicted to be above 98 degrees or below 32 degrees (Fahrenheit) immediately prior to the start of a match, either player has the option to reschedule. Do not force an opponent to play in temperatures that may pose a health risk. Note: There is no provision for extreme wind. Matches should not be rescheduled due to windy conditions.
